The stage 1 development of the Mitchell Aquatic Centre for the Maranoa Regional Council is now opened to the public for use. The water play area was particularly a success with the children, their highlight being the 400 litre dumping bucket element.

David Hood presented the Tweed Regional Aquatic Centre to the Australian Institute of Architects, Queensland Chapter. The presentation was given in conjunction with Kingspan ‘Insulated Panels; Revolutionising Modern Construction and Modern Design’ seminar. The 40 minute TRAC presentation touched on the design innovation through the specification of non-conventional building material and methodologies, which helped in the construction and delivery of the Aquatic facility in a fast tracked design and construct development.
